Songs of truth
Leigh Anthony is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in East Yorkshire, UK. He sings and plays guitar, banjo, ukulele and mandolin. Leigh began writing and recording his album The truth has got its boots on in 2014 which will be released on the 7th April 2017.
Born in the West Midlands, Leigh Anthony was brought up listening to his parents’ record collection – an eclectic mixture of Rock ’n’ Roll, Country & Western and classical music. During his teenage years Leigh developed a taste for the hard rock sounds of the Black Country where he grew up, forming a heavy metal band with mates from school. In 1984 the Smiths released their eponymous debut album. Leigh cut his hair and bought a chorus pedal – everything had changed.
Leigh moved to Hull in the early ’90s to pursue a career in the caring profession. His work brings him into daily contact with people from all strata of society and all walks of life. Leigh’s songwriting is informed by his social conscience and experiences of life, work and fatherhood.
Leigh’s self-produced album The truth has got its boots on is his finest work yet – a collection of pithy folk-pop songs penned for the modern age and sung from the heart.
